cleaning the grime on bottom of boat

While I'm lucky enough to have my boat on the water, I don't have a boat lift, so it sits in the water. I take it out every few weeks to get it detailed, but would like to start doing it myself. Would love to hear your suggestions for products / processes to use in getting grime (algae, and general dirt) off the hull, then protecting it to be back in the water again for a few weeks.

For several years I'm been meaning to ask about the "Topical Toilet Tonic". Do you use it on all of the boat or just the stuborn spots?
