My fuel gauge works!

Recommended Posts

HI, I have an 04 Malibu Sporster. The fuel gauge from day 1 has been inaccurate. When the gauge reads empty, It will hold only 15 gallons of gas. It is supposed to be a 38 gallon tank. Thats a very large reserve.Just b/4 it went out of warranty, the dealer replaced the sender. For a while it seemed much better. But now it is starting to read empty too soon again. Is this the problem you had with yours? If I understand your solution correctly, You changed the slider to an 06 model? Was it a difficult job? I am sure the dealer will not pay for the job again? I am out of warranyty by just about a year. Thanx ucontrol [email protected]

My previous problem was that it would only read 3/4 full when it was full. I started looking to fuel up when it hit E.

After seeing my SM show me what he did, it seemed pretty easy. Remove the central floor, disconnect the wires, remove the screws, replace unit, screw in, connect electrical and screw the floor back in.
