My new 2008 Wakesetter VLX!

I just finalized the deal on my 2007 Wakesetter VLX today! I was sad as the new owner towed it away. My new 2008 Wakesetter VLX is ordered and it looks like the spray date is July 11th. The changes are really cool! Unfortunately I can't spill the beans or post pictures until Wakegirl gets the O.K. I think the official release is July 1st for the new information? I will post pictures as soon as I can! For now I'm in a 2007 Wakesetter VTX with the diamond hull. I took it out tonight for the first time. It's a sweet boat, but no VLX! It does ski well though. I had it in the course tonight and a few of my buddies skied behind it instead of their responses. They thought it was a sweet boat with a decent wake! It reminds me of the classic Sunsetter LXi in the course, but it doesn't track as straight because the ski pylon isn't in the center of the boat. The wakeboarding wake was kind of small even with all four tanks full and the wedge maxed out. I 'd like to try one one on the wake hull. I can't wait to get my VLX wake back!

Helinut and Mike d Wakeboarder- I work part-time for the dealer and it's a stock boat that we changed the colors and options to make it mine, so I don't know if a customer can order one yet or not. Also, I think our first stock 2008 has already sprayed. I could probably release the changes on my boat, but I'll just wait for Wakegirl to announce. It's the sites thunder, not mine! My thunder comes from getting my 2008 in time to pull Idaho Boardstock in August! Thanks for the nice comments on my colors, or lack of color. The colors will be close to the same, but backwards. It will be black on top and on the hull, but the sides will be graphite where the new graphics are. I haven't used any color on my last few boats, because I couldn't pick one. It was always a gray area, so I just used shades of gray!

One thing I do know that is coming out in 08 is a 7% price increase!! I might have waited for an 08 if it wasn't that steep of a climb.

Regular '08 production has not started yet. Merced is making some '08 boats, but will not switch to full production until after next week (they take the week of the 4th off to change over).

The full details of the '08 models will be posted on WAKEOrigin.com as soon as they're available to the public.

He showed us pics on the dealer website of the '08's and what all the changes are. There are some pretty nifty changes and some changes I am not so sure that I care for....some of those changes will take a little getting use to.

Your VLX is awesome, don't regret it at all. Besides, by the time you're ready to upgrade, there will probably be a brand new VLX, so you're really in the best position possible.

You mean daddy would have bought it? You can't be serious, you're "pissed" that your dad bought an 07 VLX for you to use now instead of waiting until mid-to-late summer to take delivery of an 08?

One other point...there is nothing wrong with being young. You don't have to keep pretending that you bought the boat. We were all young once and we rode in our parent's boats. Never once didn't I tell someone that my dad's boat was mine. Of course, Al Gore hadn't invented the internet yet so who knows... My point is (if I can recall) that we will accept you for who you are if you just quit pretending to be something you're not.

One other point...there is nothing wrong with being young. You don't have to keep pretending that you bought the boat. We were all young once and we rode in our parent's boats. Never once didn't I tell someone that my dad's boat was mine. Of course, Al Gore hadn't invented the internet yet so who knows... The '08 looks cool, can't wait to see what the LCD controls look like lit up/working...... lots of changes between the 08 and my 94.... hahahaa

No doubt a step up...and congrats on achieving it at such a young age. mike d wake...however, is 15 and at one point admitted that it's his dad's boat (which is fine) though in Cali he couldn't even drive the boat without an 18 year old sitting next to him.

hahah yeah a little bit of a difference.... see by 14 in MI if u take the marine safety exam u can at least drive the boat alone.... ya need a boaters license and u cant drive jet-skis tho... LOL

I had a 15 year old try to tell me he was an expert boat driver and wanted to drive while i skied...i kind of laughed a little bit. Anyone who drive my boat has to pass MY safety test. screw the state/county tests...lol.....it was the same 15 year old who earlier had told me he wanted me to teach him how to barefoot.... starting with deep water starts.....how bout no.

Guess we cant rag on every 15 y/o tho.....i read something somewhere bout some 14 or 15 y.o girl who was breaking pro tournament wake boarding records...

here in Virginia we can drive boats at what ever age you want. and yes i did not pay for it but my dad does have a 28 ft wellcraft that he considers his and considers the malibu mine. he has only been on the malibu 1 time sence we owned it. not tring to argue just stating my side of the story

haha, ya it is a little bit like that. but i just got the new kawasaki ultra 250x jet ski so i am good on water craft for a few years.
