this is a great topic. never been there but would sure like to go. is october a good time of year? and where is the best place to rent a houseboat?

For less crowds, September and October are the best. I hear it cools off (all relative) a bit in October though.

I've rented from both Wahweap and Halls Crossing. Both are real good. It really depends on what part f the lake you want to explore the most. I'm not sure how the new Antelope Point marina is, but I hear it's pretty nice.

The only downside I can think of with Wahweap right now is the long drive with the houseboat if you want to get out of Wahweap bay and deeper into the canyons. With the low water, you are forced to drive all the way around Antelope Island. Kind of a long haul and uses lots of gas on both the houseboat and your Malibu.

I've been there the 1st week of October, and loved it, but my wife thought is was a bit cool. Shorter days, but no one on the lake if you go away from the marina's.

I've always gone with others who have timeshares, so I can't comment on best place to rent from other than hear-say. 1st Wahweap is nice but is a long drive, in low water years, for the HB. I've heard good things about Antelope, but no first hand knowledge. Halls crossing is GONE! It got shut down a few years ago when high run-off brought down a lot of silt and basically filled the area in. I've gone out of Wahweap and out of Bullfrog, I like both ends of the lake for different reasons.

Didn't turn out to bad for a scanned photo. :)
