Loose front tracking fin 03 VLX

Recommended Posts

Mad.gif My front tracking fin is loose. So I pulled up the floor and all gas tank. No access to the front hardware at all. The tank can move back about 2 inches. Not even close to enough. The only way I can see moving it enough is to remove the V-Drive. Help!!!!

You said that you pulled the gas tank? If so those tracking fins are right under it. They are no where near the v-drive, both tracking fins should be as far forward as the divider for the mls and the gas tank.

No I didn't move the gas tank. It covers the hardware except the rear bolt for the rear tracking fin. The gas tank can only move back about 2 inches and it hits the V-Drive. It needs to move a lot more to be able to get to the hardware which is under the tank and behind the divider.

The same thing happened to me. The first thing you need to do is removed all the gas from the tank because your going to have to remove it. Next you need to remove the cushions. I would use an electric srew driver because of the amount of screws in the piano hinges. Once you remove the cushions you can remove the wall that is over the V-Drive by unscrewing it from the floor and the walls right next to it. Once you have done this it is just a matter of lifting the tank and tightening the allen head screws. I put lock tight on all of the screws so hopefully this won't happen to me again.

Do you mean the back to the rear seat? or just the panel in front of the V-Drive where the speakers are mounted. It didn't look like that would come out without remove the whole wrap around.

The wall that the speakers are mounted in needs to be removed. You just about have to remove the wrap around to do it.
