Vibration in steering column

Recommended Posts

I was in a friend of mines boat last year (06' VLX) which was pretty well weighted, 2000ish?? lbs. Anyway, I noticed that when you accelerated there was a pronounced rattle/vibration felt in your hands on the steering wheel. It felt as though it was coming up the steering column. I thought it was because of the weight in his boat. Well I now have a VTX with the same engine (340 Monsoon) and it is doing the same thing. Does anyone have this same issue???? Is it normal when there is ballast in the boat????

it's not uncommon, it's just slight slop in the steering rack

the easy fix is the loosen the four bolts on the steering rack, twist the rack slightly and retigthen
