    I'm debating on the xtra large Bimini from tower Biminis and the cs slider.  what is the process for deploying and stowing the one on your boat?  does anyone hit their head on the back of it given how low it has to be to clear the rope?

      Sorry for the delay just saw this. I have only ever had the factory Bimini. I used towerbiminis to sew up a new my replacement Bimini canvas. With my factory extended version I have only ever hit made head maybe twice in 11 years and never had a guest do it. On a VLX or 22’ boat with a shorter cabin I bet it would be a constant obstacle. BICBW The surf rope is what did in the canvas on my 2010. My technique on my ‘19 Is to attach the surf rope to the to tower ball and let it hang straight down on the front side of the hoop. This way the rope is pulling up on the Bimini and not top down to scuff up the canvas. It doesn’t seem to be a problem for anyone observing and is actually kind of easier to recover from a seated position. I still put a vinyl sleeve on the potion of the rope that makes brief contact with the canvas. At 300 hours now see little if any signs of wear. Hope this helps. Bill

    Thx to all for feedback on my gifted 1988 Malibu Skier.

    Identified the electrical issue at point where I installed new, uselessStarter Slave Solenoid, put old on e back and whalla, electrical issue resolved.

    Now having issue at attached photo area.  Not moving.  All spark plugs new,  but this area not moving. Any thoughts?

    I read in one of your posts about barefoot ropes you might be able to get a deal on them.  Looking for a new rope/handle, other one was old and went with the old boat.  Any help is appreciated.

    Robert, My 2016 22MXZ sounds identical to your clunking noise video. Was was the final conclusion? covered by warranty? new ? repaired?

    I appreciate any help you can give on this as it will dramatically decrease the search for an answer on mine.

      Hey sorry for the late response, i have not logged in in awhile. Honestly not sure what the problem was. After some research I thought it was my damper plate. So I decided to rip out the transmission myself to save money. So I got about half way of pulling the tranny out and realized I couldn't do this myself. I would really need a fork lift to pull it out. So I put it all back together.  I took it to my mechanic for him to diagnose. While the boat was there he did my end of the year maintenance, he changed the plugs and wires, etc, then he told me he couldn't replicate the problem. When I took it home the noise was gone! So either something was lose that I retightend without knowing what it was (maybe it was the shaft coupling bolts). Or maybe the boat had a misfire that was resonating down to the vdrive and was fixed by new plugs/wires? It's hard to say but the sound was gone and never came back.

      Thanks for the response. Mine went from a clunking sound to a very loud clunking sound then.... I tore apart the V Drive and found the problem!

      I wish you better luck than I had.... Keep in mind mine sounded identical to your video!

    Looking for a little more top end on our 97 Sunsetter LX.  Don't get me wrong, we have a good running 320 monsoon MPI.  540  hours. This is our family sized barefoot boat, we foot it every weekend,  slaloim ski at 30 and, anchor it in the coves in the afternoon. \

    That being said:   Acme 525, full tank of fuel and 4 souls aboard gets 45.9 mph (stargazer) at wot, engine is turning 5050 rpm. 

    One longline barefooter is good for 44.7, two longline footers 43.5,  rpms are all still right above 5000. My footing partner would like a little more top end for one foots. His height to mass ratio and shoe size are a little different than mine... he is also a very capable footer who executes aggressive wake crossings. 

     

    I was reading about the option to add some timing, according to some other posts on this forum,  the base timing is 10 btdc  and the computer will add up to 20 more degrees of advance.  All in at 30 degrees.  more timing should increase torque.  

     

    Do you know anyone who has done this? any other feedback?

      This article recommends 32 degrees total advance fro the early vortec heads.   have you ever seen a published torque and HP curve for the 320 monsoon, I'd like to know where peak torque is the rpm and how that compares to peak HP.

      That is close and probably a good setting.  Data I have has peak power at 4,900 RPM and peak torque at 3,900 RPM.  Hope that helps.

    Did you resolve your issue? My boat is doing the same thing. Already changed the filter and it seemed to help for a bit but to no avail. The boat still cuts out when it is hot and over 2900. Thanks for your reply.

    First, thanks for all the help.

    She started acting up again and I figured out it was loosing power to the fuel pump. 

    Changed out the fuel pump relay and problem solved.

    Looking for some help. I have a 2003 335 monsoon not efi. Lately, I have had this issue that after the engine has been run for awhile, it will suddenly make this flup flup sound and loose all power. It won’t die and I can go back to an idle speed and if I go back to the same speed, around 3000, it might happen again and it might not. This is what I have done so far. I have changed all plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. I have treated the gas with stabil. I have sprayed carb cleaner up into the fuel pump to try and clear the filter up in there. Don’t know if that really helped. I changed the filter at the gas tank. I sprayed carb cleaner into the carb. I have cleaned the air filter. That is about it. I wish I had more of a consistent trouble shoot for you but it is baffling me. Like I said, the only time it seems to happen is when it has been run for awhile and it is running around 3000 or so. Any help would be great. Thanks

      I would look into the distributor module located in the distributor. If your engine is carbed it is 310 hp in 2003.

      Never had to do it, but not rocket surgery. Google is very smart. People also refer to as ign. control module.

      i talked to them as well.  One of the techs said no real way to fix it.  I seriously think it may be a $5 part, maybe a relay.  I hate to spend over $800 to buy a new one and this thing goes into the land fill over a small part.  I wonder if a electronics place could figure it out.

      Finally found the guy.  Steve Johnson.  He said they no one makes the part I would need to fix and I had to order a new Lift Tech.  Oh well was worth a shot.  Thank you for your help.

    I have a powder coating guy nearby but i am hesitant to remove the trim to have it done. I don't know the condition of the rubber gasket under the trim.

    I hope you or someone can help with a barefoot boom question ...

    We had a Dlx Universal Contour Boom from Barefoot Int'l on our "92 Sunsetter.  We just got a 2010 VTX and I'm wondering if I can use this boom I have if I get the appropriate boom clamp for our VTX?  Or will I need to get a whole new boom?  Except for the boom clamp our old boom looks like it is the same as what Barefoot Int'l  now recommends for V-drive boats.  Thanks!

      To be honest I am not sure. I would call barefoot international to see what they say. I haven’t barefooted in 20 years.

      Thanks for replying; I'll keep researching.  My first step was calling BI.  The person I talked didn't seem to know much ... but did encourage me to "just buy a new boom".  Of course they'd say that!
