The gauges are digital. All of the wires to the gauges have the same signals on them, so you can plug any wire into any gauge.
The most common problem with these is solder cracks at the connectors inside the main unit. Remove the unit, pull the cover off, and resolder the joints where the connectors mate with the circuit board.
