M235 - G Killer?

Where's the standard 25% discount???

At the Portland show it was 228/178. That's 22% discount. Not bad for a starting point. Did you see the discounts I posted from the Dallas show? There was literally only ONE boat at the show with a 20% discount (SC400). The rest were in the teens.

To get that $228 M235 to 25% would only require an additional $7K off making the price $171K. I'm pretty sure my dealer wouldn't turn down a $171K check for that boat. LOL

The economics on the boat Darkside posted sound very similar... slightly lower MSRP probably because it had less flake or something.

And I can't imagine a Lamborghini or Ferrari owner financing their car, much less for up to 20 years. Totally different customer base.......

I don't have any stats to offer up but I think you'd be surprised at how many are financed or leased. Ferrari Financial Services does a decent amount of business.

This should be good for another 5 pages now...

Interesting that they have the boats on trailers. At the Minneapolis boat show all the Malibu and MasterCraft boats had their props, rudders, shafts, and fins removed and the boats were sitting on thin pads on the floor. Much easier to access the interiors and see the boats from more of a normal perspective. Regional preferences I guess.

Malibu even had the M235 bow propped up at about the attitude it would be for surfing. You could just step from the floor onto the swim platform and then into the boat.

Most of the boats were on the floor as you describe (see rest of Malibu display below). Now that I think about it, it was just the BIG boats that were on trailers (M235, X26, Ri237, 25 LSV, and all the G's). But the rest of the Bu's and MC's were on the floor.

It was the first time I'd seen the M on a trailer and I was kinda blown away by it's height. It's funny... you can't see it in my pic of that M, but the staircase to get into it was MASSIVE. Normally it takes like 4 steps to get into a trailered boat?? This thing had like 8 steps. It was like going "upstairs" in my house. They should have used an escalator. The X26 was equally massive in scale... and long like an aircraft carrier.

You nailed it the local M235 does not have a ton of flake, 224k, yes the dealer here posts all malibu with ~22.5% discount, I am fairly certain there is still a point or two of wiggle room.

On the floor it is next to a 25LSV, the M litteraly dwarfs the 25LSV!

This reminds me of that episode in Entourage when Vince goes to buy a Rolls Royce ($300K) and Drama convinces him to lease it. Hahaha! Classic episode.

Only the 25 and the 235 are on trailers at the Dallas show in the main display, there is a 22MXZ in another part of the show. These two big boats stayed full last weekend. It was hard to get another customer in the boats to show them. The 23LSV and 24MXZ were almost as busy as the bigger boats.

M235 is generally $165k-$175k depending now on how you option it. That's the price point I was to tell customers at the show.

Here's a picture very similar to one already posted. Notice the guy standing in the boat for comparison to the height of the boat. I'm about rub rail height.

Ronnie, I so wish I could have met you at the show. Too bad out timing was off. I gotta say, the layout of the Malibu booth was impressive. And the materials used were very upscale for a boat show. Nice carpet with wood floor pathway. Boats all line up on the angle. Rustic wooden displays and fixtures all over. Malibu propaganda framed and subtly hanging on the walls (eg market share data).

Nicest boat booth I've ever been in. And I bought a tshirt! ;-)

Don't quote me on this, but I've heard that some of the bigger boats weigh too much for the lifts to take them off of the trailer.

The setup, at least in Detroit, is done by a 3rd party union team. They lift 30+ foot boats off to set them on stands for the show.

Yeah, would have been good to meet you. Lots of TMC members come through there. Both Weekends are enough for me to be there though. Thursday & Friday are slower.

T-shirt? You didn't buy a saddle float? They can't restock those things fast enough! They had to go back to the dealership for another load. They were like beads at a Mardi Gras party. Everyone had several.

Ronnie, you are hooked in with WSA as a salesman? Ended up disgusted with their service dept.

Link to comment

No, they are still the salesmen, they just want me there spreading the Malibu/WSA Love. :yahoo:

I'm sure there are a few disgusted customers in every service Dept. Sometimes you just can't make that relationship work. Seems like you were disgusted with your previous service dept when I sent you to WSA...

That M235 booth looks well put together, check out that M235 engraved sign in the walkway... downward lighting and a full walk through. How did it look when you were there? That M235 looks beautiful, nice color scheme. My dealer has one on order coming soon, looking forward to checking it out up close and what price they are going to be asking for it. The Sacramento market tends to be on the low side of pricing, it is going to be interesting what the boat show price will be for the M235 next month in Sac. Dave, plan a business trip down here and we will hook up for the boat show :)

Yeah, like I said the entire Malibu booth was top shelf.

I like your idea, Trav. Maybe I'll just have to be in Santa Clara that week... I could cut out early one day and hit the show on Thursday night.

Ya it wasn't but one of them, not indicative of the rest of the WSA team. 100% hack job followed up by lies.

Since you think it's all a big joke, having to move very few years away from your home dealer...call up Wilson Watersports and tell them you need help with service.... And that it's a WSA boat. See what they say.

WSA is why I'm 2 deep now into Nautique.
