Also, you may have the plugs/connections wrong,  hopefully not, as this will blow the fuses also.  IIRC, the plugs are all interchangeable and can easily be hooked up incorrectly.  Make sure you trace the wires and have them conected to the correct one. All the best!

Lay on your back and look up to the backside of the steering column. There are two large plastic covers that cover two sets of fuse panels and control boards. Your manual should show the location and which fuse goes to what, but once  you remove the covers the detail is also on the inside of the covers.

It’s likely the original pump was still working. Maybe had some debris jamming it causing the blown fuse. Always check fuses first if something electrical fails.
