2010 Malibu 23 LSV prop shaft

Recommended Posts

Well, somehow I sheared my prop shaft in the couple last weekend (no strikes this time :) ). I went to get a price from my mechanic for the parts and he wanted the boat in shop to measure. This task is too simple for me to send to shop, so I was wondering if anybody knew the length of the prop shaft. I know the diameter ;)

I don't have your measurement, but where did it shear?  If at the v-drive, it's likely caused by engine misalignment.

It sheared right at the nut in the coupler. I don't think it is an alignment issue as the undercarriage was all replaced this year from an underwater strike (stump). The repair shop had an extra prop shaft laying around that needed to be straighten (used) and gave it to me and only charged for the straightening. I don't know where it was bent earlier... but I have a feeling it was a stress shear not due to alignment (nothing is in a bind and prop rotates with ease). However, will check when putting it back together. Thank you for your reply.
