Boat covers

Anyone got suggestions as to where to purchase both a full cover and a bimini top for a 1995 Malibu Echelon LX with an aftermarket Skylon X-tower?

Thanks

I just received the cover for my Response and I can't say enough about the customer service that I got from Evolution Covers. I had some questions about the initial install and fitting and Cory spent all the time I needed to get it right.

I wish everyone I dealt with was as concerned about their product and satifaction as they are!

:plus1: Cory is great  In a short period of time, as the Sunbrella "relaxes", it will fit and look even better!!

When I was looking Cory didn't have an Echelon template, which he may now. Definitely worth the inquiry.

I ended up with a cover that protected the stern of my boat as it sits on a lift with Western exposure.

Evolution didn't have our pattern when I bought. I found one shop within 50 miles that would make a custom one, but didn't have the means to get it done at the time.

Your options beyond Evolution would be:

1) Local custom shop. Best option for you with your tower.

2) Mail order "semi-custom" cover for cheap. There are two brands out there, Carver and Taylor Made. They both will only work with the platform on, regardless of the options you select while ordering. I tried both and found out the Taylor Made pattern fits our boats better. The Carver windshield pocket is too far forward and is baggy in front of the windshield. Taylor Made also had a piece of vinyl sewn in to cover the windshield frame's sharp edges. You'll have to modify it to fit around that tower.

I bought a westland "custom" over the platform in Sunbrella and I am very happy with it. For $525 I got a sunbrella cover that in my opinion is better than my local canvas shop, that I use, would do.

I would think a high quality local shop could do better for more money. But not much.

If Cory doesn't have a pattern for your boat he could pattern one in his area. I worked with him and Paul from Bakes and found a Skier in the area that Cory patterned to make a pattern for the classic Skiers. It's well worth the wait!

Check out post #25 in this thread for lots of detailed pics of his work.

I refer people to Cory & Evolution all the time. A friend of mine just had him make a cover for a 95 Mastercraft 205 with a Skylon tower. Perfect fit, first time.

So this morning I had a friend ask about covers, materials, brands, etc. Of course I gave her Cory's brand & website. She called Cory to ask about them making a cover for a Calabria DD with a Boss tower. Cory didn't have it. But he refereed her to Pat Rankin, who is apparently getting his health back in order & is re-opening his business. I understand that Cory got his start with Rankin years ago till Pat's health went downhill. But it sounds like he's back, and Cory is passing a little business his way.... pretty stand-up of him, I'd say.... . I guess Pat has older patterns that Cory doesn't have.

Good luck.

Wow. That's pretty cool to hear that Cory would share his business like that. You gotta give it to him for that kind of behavior.

+1 for Evolution. I just got my new cover a few weeks ago and did a fit check this week. Very nice.

I had a few questions and Cory talked me through them on the fit and the stretch.

Worth the wait.

I just ordered a cover from Corey at Evolution Covers, and I gotta say he's super cool and very helpful.

After calling 3 other places, checking the forum (where i should have started) and checking a local custom shop, hands down he's the better choice.

sounds like he knows how to make the cover fit right. no straps going to the trailer!! He knew what tower was on the boat, etc etc...

Also got the platform cover and he threw in double layering the nose - no charge.
