Just measured last night: 2009 VTX (BoatMate trailer) with the tower down is around 7'10".

Tower down: 7'2"

Here's an ideal for most towers that won't fit thru a normal garage door opening. I have a 2005 Malibu Sportster LX with a Titan Series III. It was 3" too high to fit thru a normal garage door. I had to remove the front tower everytime to put it in the garage. I had a exhaust shop use their tube bender change the angle a couple of degrees on all 4 posts. Now no problems. (I knew that engineering degree would come in handy.)

2008 Vride, DHM Trailer, Illusion Tower:

Tower height on trailer when tower up: 104 inches

Tower height collapsed (minimum garage door height): 82 inches

Minimum garage door width: 104 inches

Minimum garage depth (with swim platform removed, wedge down and break away trailer tongue: 22 feet

See if I can explain this next part right:

Minimum boat lift clearance from top of bunk arm to bottom of prop : 18.5 inches.

Note this is measured from center of bunk arm, since it's angled to fit hull.

My bunk arms are also 41" apart, which is just inside the outer most chines on the hull.

I am totally new to the site and still do not have myself a malibu quite yet. I am searching for used malibus 2006 and newer and am curious of the height clearance for my garage. I haven't looked at the dealerships because I figured an online forum will have more info to offer.

Are there only some towers that are collapsable, and if they are collapsable do the measurements read from the top of the windshield or the highest point on the collapsed tower?

Without a tower, what are the height measurements (from ground to top of windshield) of some common malibus while on their trailer?

Long time lurker and first time poster. I'm looking into a 2011 VTX but I really need to know what it takes to get it to fit under a 7 foot door. I've seen some mention of removing the hoop on the tower- will that do it and if so how difficult is that to do? I've also seen mention of a "low rider" option- is that simply putting low profile tires on the trailer? Appreciate any thoughts

Crashman, I have a 2010 VLX, believe it is the same tower. I have a 7' garage to clear as well to store it. I have to remove the bimini top (4 quick release tabs), the tower hoop( 4 stainless steel allen bolts) and both spinner board racks (which each have a set screw holding them in place). Takes approximately 10 min tops, and that's only because I take my time not to scratch anything. hope this helps.

Well there is a lot of info on the G3 height when it is folded, but does anyone have a measurement for when it is still up? Will it fit in a 10' tall door or is it that much taller than the illusion tower.

Will a 2010-2012 VLX fit under an 8' garage door (G3 tower folded down) w/out removing the hoop? Assume Boatmate trailer with 18's, if that matters.

I would think so, but I don't have the upgraded wheels on my trailer. My garage is 8'6". That leaves me with a couple inches to spare, the upper rack forks being the highest point.
