Not to steal your thunder but here is a video of the BYT with Gerry and Shaun when they came to Bull Shoals Lake in Northern Arkansas. My girlfriend shot the video and I edited it. Enjoy.

Nice editing Chris. That last Raley by Shaun is just "Wow!!!". That must have been fun out in the boat with them.

This may not be the time or place but I ski/foot on that part of Bull Shoals in Northern Arkansas and talk about lack of respect or others on the lake! I was pulling my buddy through the slalom course when all of a sudden here comes a flotilla of tug boats putting out huge wakes. We had to stop and almost swamped the RLXi.

When Shaun came back by, he apologized and said they would stay out of the cove ... kind of made up for it but the other six boats just did their best to swamp us again on their way out.

Later, they started boarding down a small cove with a number of docks. We had just pulled in for lunch and were watching all the boats get tossed about. Ours is always backed into the stall so as to keep the bow from hitting anything.

After a couple of trips by with the film crews in tow, we thought they were finished. Went up for lunch and came back down only to find the dock sitting on top of our swim platform. It took 4 of use to get it out from under the dock and once we did, we realized that the swim platform was no longer attached to the brackets. It had ripped all the stainless steel screws out of the platform. We were able to retrieve the screws off the bottom of the lake but they would not hold very well. Ended up having to take the platform home for repairs.

We did not see any of these guys for the rest of the weekend (good riddance) but if I had, I would have had a few choice words for them.

Now that is a different perspective.
I'm glad to hear that Shaun was trying to show some respect. Maybe you should send him or the organizer of the event an e-mail expressing your concerns. It may at least help someone else in the future. The more we show respect for each other the more we can all have fun out on the water.

I gotta chance to ride with Gerry when he was in town. Very nice guy and great to watch. I think he was riding at 85' and riping. Its amazing how easy he makes the tricks look.

Best part was there were only 4 riders in the boat so we all got a lot of riding in, some good coaching and learned some new stuff.

So it's the boarders fault that you tied up your boat poorly? Not trying to be a jerk, and I'm sure they did put a lot of wakes into your dock, but if you tied your boat up so it couldn't of hit the dock this wouldn't of been an issue right?

I'd send the email if I were you. Driver is ALWAYS responsible for his wake, no wake zone or not. That kind of force sounds like it could have ripped out cleats if it pulled planks out of the platform. Guess you are lucky you didn't have a glass platform...may have broken it in half.

I'm going to have to side with Steve on this one. The first thing I thought of was that that boat was going to be putting out one hell of a wake and that it looked like there were too many people in it.

Now, while it may be open for debate on whether or not the boat was tied up, whether the wake was hazzardous, etc... it it sure looks to me like that the boat is loaded down with too many people and that in itself is irresponsible and illegal.

It's also quite clear from the pictures that they are running pretty close to shore. Given the size of the wake they know they'll be generating, I would have at least expected them to further away.

Just my $.02.

I count 15 people plus the rider. No way that's safe (or legal).

And there's no excuse for running huge wakes like that through a narrow cove with boats and docks getting destroyed. Next time, get the registration number, find 'em and sue 'em.

I'll have to say, the boat he was boarding behind was not the problem. It was all the chase boats that were loaded down and running at slower speeds while waiting for them to turn around at the end of the cove, that caused the trouble.

As for how my boat was tied, I have been doing it that way for years, weathering many storms and boat wakes without problems. Being that the dock is styrofoam, a little bump on the swim platform has never before been a problem and, as far down in the water as the dock sits, I would never have dreamed that the back of my boat could get far enough under water to be a problem.

I will tell you though, if the resort owner had been down there, he would have been out in his boat chasing them down.

This board is becoming very intolerant. 15 people on a boat with a coast guard capacity of 14 - send in the National Guard! Give me a break! A pro rider is out for a demo and you're bitching about one extra? I count at least four young boys among the crowd.

Just a note to all you skiers complaining about wakes- it would be just as legit to start complaining about all those balls with their underwater apparatus that sit all season in the coves. The many wake boarders in my area are among the most considerate people on the lake.

You guys are killing me with your comments because your making stupid generalizations about something you know nothing about. How many of you have been to Bull Shoals? If you have then you know it's a core of engineers lake and boat docks are VERY few and far between. You also know that the core doesn't let people build right right on the banks. Did any of you watch the video posted here? It's over 6 minutes of riding and not once did they ride past a boat dock! You'll also notice the absence of buildings and people on the shore. Tell me again why wakeboarders like this are creating issues?

Oh, by the way, no one ever mentioned how many people were in the boat at Bull Shoals...

You guys are putting the pictures posted above with the story posted by ibelieve and creating a monster, when if fact a lot of things are different. I'm sure boaters at Bull Shoals do not experience much boat wave action, it's just the nature of that lake. Boats are few and far between, big boats almost don't exist, so the few docks don't see lots of big wakes.

I know a lot of boaters, myself included that take a situational approach to driving. Do I have any issues throwing a 3 foot wake (my new boat can do that by the way) into a dock 150' away that's located on the main channel of Lake of the Ozarks? Nope, I wouldn't think twice about it! But how about running the other end of a private lake when you see someone trying to barefoot on one end, of course. You guys jump all over one example of a guy riding past one dock, yeah, it sucks @$$ that he riped the screws out of his swimplatform, but even Steve himself will tell you it was the wallies chasing the wakeboarder not the wakeboarder himself that caused the main wakes and issues. Couple that with tying up the boat in a way that would allow it to hit the dock and we see what happens. I assume he will move the boat a little farther forward next time!

All I have to say is nice f-ing Hijack! :(

Might just as well rename the thread, for it has nothing to do with Gerry's clinic here.
