A few different suppliers have made forward mounting booms over the years, but keep in mind that these are "hard mounted", in that the mounting clamps are through bolted into the fiberglass, and with the boom in place it crosses over the walk-though, thereby eliminating anyone over 1.5' tall.

It is absolutely the right place for a boom, but not a good application. The only company that ever got it right was Ski-Pro. They had a internal boom forward of the windshield that powered in and out with a dash switch. (I believe on the Extreme) It was the perfect setup as far as I could tell.

I heard years ago of the powered boom and was thinking about to build on for my old closed bow ...

As I was undersanding the clamps will be fix near to the cup holder in front of the windshield (for the front mount).

anyone has a pic of a front mount boom?

Why doesn't one of these companies (or SOMEONE) make a 'double' contour boom? From the pylon, around the motor box and past the windshield; then around the windshield going forward toward the bow, and then out to the water.

Jack, the boom and clamp would have to be made out of titanium to withstand the twisting forces.

Since you're all bored at he computer, pick up a paper clip and bend it into the shape you are thinking about. Hold the pylon end and lay it across something to imititate the gunnel. Then simply push slightly down on the end of the boom, like a kid hanging on it. The resultant force is a twisting moment that will snap clamps like the ECI, Skyjack, and even Bemman's. The lead pipe that BI uses may withstand the force, but over time either the boom itself or the clamp will give.

This is one of the reasons you never see a right angle bend on a boom, the contours are all angled to lessen the twisting moment.

Gotcha.

So what is the answer/options for those with the 2nd generation RLXi?
Older-style (RLX) Bemmans with extension?
ECI Aggressor I think may fit, due to the windshield not coming back as far, but NO EXTENSION AVAILABLE.
BI single Contour? Quad Contour? Universal Contour?

to me, that seems just a bit forward for someone skiing directly off the boom, as opposed to a 5 foot line. Any chances of taking a strange fall and hitting the back end of the boat?

the boom works great
boom and 5 foot line starts going fine
the skier get no spray of the boat (beginner 2 ski's and footer)

From experience the BI Quad contour and the universal contour will both work. Get the extension, as the BI boom is a bit short on the wider boats without it.

I am looking to trade a BI quad contour boom for a BI straight or single contour boom. I have the V-drive clamp available send me a PM if anyone is interested.

Quad contour is not the best fit for my sporty, worked well on my previous MC.
