2011 NorCal Wow date poll

Hello everyone.
It's almost time to start planning the 2011 NorCal Wow. Although I do nothing to plan this event, I'd like to take a poll to see what people think about the date it should be held.

Traditionally, this event has been held on Father's day weekend. Father's day is technically the third Sunday in June. (This event is always held at Lake Oroville in Oroville, CA.)

Pros for having it on the same Father's day weekend:
1) Water level will most likely be higher in June than any other time of summer. With water level high, group campsite on shore is a possibility. But, reserving it, putting down a deposit, collecting funds from people, and actual water level from campsite to shore is a gamble.
2) Some people think that Dad gets to decide what the family will do that particular weekend and, Dad wants to go to Wow.

Pros for having the event later in the summer:
1) Weather and water temp. will most likely be warmer. Slight drop in water level won't matter because it's a huge lake.
2) Not holding it on Father's day weekend will probably free up some people that want to go but, may have a commitment to spend time with their fathers.

As far as lodging at the lake goes, there are 5 opportunitys:
1) $ Find a few friends to go in on renting a house boat.
2) $ Find a lot of friends that want to shore camp at the group campsite. Reserve, book, and pay for it. (hard to get that many people to commit and pay up front).
3) $ Find a few friends that want to rent a floating campsite. (ideal, but, extremely hard to book and, actual location on the lake is unknown).
4) $ Stay at the local Casino/hotel right down the road.
5) $ Book a regular campsite in one of the campgrounds.

As you all know, I'm not a mod. or admin. and I don't represent TMC in any way. I'm just looking for a vote on the date.
I'd like to thank all the admins, mods, and Swag King for their work on pulling off this event flawlessly for years.
Lastly, I purposely left out July 4th weekend due to obvious conflicts. You may chose more than one date.

East Coast WOW

Hey all!

Just want to gauge interest on an East Coast WOW (weekend on the water). After seeing the West Coast gang get together and have so much fun I think it would be awesome to organize an event for the East Coast Bu crew members that are interested. I know there are a lot of PA/OH members as well as some in Michigan and down through the Carolinas.

Also, list the lake of your preference. Mine would be Lake Raystown in PA. We vacationed there a few years ago and it was a fantastic lake for skiing and boarding with house boats and camping available.

If you would be interested, reply in this thread with your location and how far you would be willing to drive. I have an antique truck that gets 7MPG, but would still be interested in driving a bit to get together with the crew! http://www.themalibucrew.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/Rockon.gif

I'm in Grove City, PA and would happily drive 5-6 hours, more if I must.

Let me know what you think! I think we need to do it.

Kal Lake or Okanagon Lake

Hey all you Canadians,

We are purchasing our grandfathers house this year. His house is near Kal Lake in Vernon BC about 2 km away. We are also very close to the Okanagon lake too. After we purchase the home and do some remodeling we will be buying another boat up there. We would love to hook up with some people up there to do some boarding and skiing.

Lake Billy Chinook

There are a number of us that will be up at Lake Billy Chinook the weekend of September 10-12. There are enough of us at this point that we thought that it might be nice to throw it out there to the rest, just in case others want to come. We'll be camping in E-Loop & if you want to join us, pm either myself or jetskipro550 for details on where exactly we'll be.
Looking forward to seeing old friends & meeting new ones.

The Malibu Crew international locator map

Hey guys,
With all the talk of finding a third or, reliable boat buddy, I found a Google map program that will allow us to see where we are. This may also be useful for finding a centralized national wow. (there used to be a "frapper" but, that is long gone).

Click on this link.

You must "sign in" to your google account in the upper right hand corner to add yourself to the map. This can be done by simply having a Gmail account and typing it in.

Click the "edit" button in the left hand column. This will make a few icons appear in the upper left hand corner of the actual map picture. Adjust the map's scale so that you can see your city then, click on the middle symbol (that appeared after you hit the edit button) that looks like a blue balloon. Now click on the map where your location is. This will drop the push pin on that location and open a small text box where you should type in your screen name. You can also add a small blurb about yourself or your location in the box below that.

There are other options for the push pin icon but, to keep it clean, please only use the blue (default) push pin. I've seen other maps where people got crazy with the icons and added in pictures and stuff and it looks awful. I added in the 3 factory locations using red balloons.

One other note guys, be really careful when you're in the edit mode. Anyone that logs in can change anyone else's location by mistake. So, once you set your push pin, go ahead and hit the "done" button. Then, you can cruise around and check out other members without accidentally changing their locations.

Enjoy! Lets see how fast we can fill this up!

Hells Canyon 2010

Still recuperating from a week in Hell..... Hells Canyon that is.

Had a great time with a fun group of people..... around 40 riders on 6 boats from the Seattle, Portland, Spokane & Boise areas. We kidded around about whether it was a foil riders gathering or a Malibu gathering. We had 4 Malibus, a SAN & a Prostar. Beyond that, I think there might have been less than 10 other boats out on the Snake all week long.

The weather was mediocre early in the week but came around slowly, giving us highs in the 80s, sunshine, fabulous views & great water conditions.

We rode from the Oxbow dam north to the Hells Canyon dam, about 20 miles of the Snake River. Then took a jet boat tour north of the Hells Canyon dam one day & saw some stage 2 rapids, and some rafters hitting a stage 4.

Some highlights of the trip... just click the thumbnail & check out a little slideshow:
